How to search for similar clauses in Word
When you first install Recital for Word, the add-in comes preloaded with sample clauses from highly regarded standardized contract templates. Please note it may take a few minutes for the sample clauses to load once you've installed Recital for Word.
For best results, we suggest uploading your own contract templates, or connecting your cloud storage or email containing your past contracts to have Recital search and return similar clauses from your own documents.

Search for a similar clause
Filter your search results
Open a contract in Word. In the Home tab, click Open Recital.
Click Find similar clauses.
Highlight a clause in the document and the highlighted text will be automatically pasted into the search box. If you'd like to get similar clauses for text contained elsewhere, simply copy the text and paste it into the search box.
Click Search.
Recital will return a list of clauses similar to the searched text, with the clause that appears in the most documents at the top of the search results.
You will be shown a redline version of the clauses in the search results against the clause you highlighted in the document you are working on.
Recital will also show you how semantically similar two clauses are (this means how close their meaning is) to one another. For example, if two indemnity clauses generally convey the same meaning but have several instances of synonymous words, Recital will consider the clauses as highly similar. However, if those same two clauses set very different terms , these will be considered less/not similar and will not display in search results.
You can use filters to fine tune your search results.
Select one or more categories to only see clauses from specific categories.
Use the party text input to search and filter clause results by one or more parties. Type a party name into the search. Once it appears as a result, click it to apply it as a filter. You can add multiple parties. To remove a party from your filter, click the "X" beside the party name.
Filter settings can be applied to further refine your search results. Any changes you make to settings will be preserved for future searches.
Clauses in search results will show a redline version against the original clause in your search.
