Add or Remove Clauses from Your Library

Learn how to build and manage your clause library by saving, importing, or removing clauses.

Before managing your clause library, make sure you've:

  • Installed the Recital Word add-in
  • Connected at least one of the following to Recital:
    • Your cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
    • Your email account
    • Uploaded a clause library source file

How to save a clause to your library

Your clause library is your personal collection of go-to language. Saving clauses makes them easier to find and reuse across documents.

From search results:

  1. Search for a clause using the Search in the add-in.
  2. Hover over any search result.
  3. Click Save to library.

The clause is now saved and will appear at the top of future search results with a "Saved" indicator.

How to import clauses to your library

If you have a collection of clauses in a Word or PDF document that you want to add to your library all at once, you can import them directly through the add-in.

  1. Open the Word document containing your clauses.
  2. Open the Recital add-in.
  3. Navigate to Import to Clause Library.
  4. Click Upload file or drag and drop your file to upload.
  5. Recital will analyze your document and identify distinct clauses.

The imported clauses will be automatically categorized and added to your library.

Supported formats:

You can import clauses from:

  • Word documents (.docx)
  • PDF files

How to remove a clause from your library

If you've saved a clause you no longer need:

  1. Find the clause in your search results or in your library.
  2. Hover over the clause.
  3. Click Remove from library.

The clause will no longer appear in your saved library but will still be accessible through search results if it exists in your contracts.

Important notes about shared libraries

Shared libraries contain clauses saved by other users at your organization. You can view and use these clauses, but you cannot remove them from the shared library—only the person who saved the clause can unsave it. This preserves the integrity of your team's shared clause bank.
